What is H.O.P.E.S.?
H.O.P.E.S. (Healthy Outcomes through Prevention & Early Support) is a joint effort by a coalition of North Texas nonprofits aiming to create the best possible environment for children in Dallas County to grow and thrive.
How it Works
AVANCE-North Texas takes a personalized approach to preventing child abuse and neglect. We meet families where they are, using individualized home visits and tailored support to educate families, help them establish family objectives and goals, and connect them to community services and resources best suited to meet their unique needs.
“Thanks to AVANCE HOPES, I could understand that I was in an abusive relationship that was dampening my self-esteem and affecting the home environment of my children. This achievement gave me the courage to start a new and healthy life.”

Eligibility
During the screening process, our trained AVANCE home visitors talk with potential participants to determine eligibility and explore the available options together, ensuring that each family’s unique circumstances are carefully considered to provide the best support for you and your family.
Eligibility is based on various factors, such as family conflict, support system needs, teenage pregnancy, poor academic performance for someone in the home, high levels of stress, domestic abuse, substance abuse, low household income, and any mental health or developmental concerns.
Home Visits
Once eligibility is determined, a home visitor is assigned to begin working with the family to develop goals and connect them to resources that will meet their specific needs. This is accomplished through two in-person or virtual visits per month. Depending on the goals set, the program can last three to twelve months.
During these individualized visits, the enrolled participant and everyone living in the home are given resources, referrals, and guidance on various issues based on the family's needs and goals. A questionnaire is also used with the child enrolled in the program to connect them to additional support with identified needs in multiple areas, including communication, motor skills, problem-solving, and social interaction.
